Monroe mural Day of Caring

On Friday, September 13, volunteers completed community service projects at Sequoyah Elementary, Monroe Demonstration Academy, and McLain High School as part of Tulsa Area United Way's Day of Caring.

At Monroe Demonstration Academy, 300 QuikTrip volunteers and 140 City Year volunteers were working diligently to finish the projects they started the week before. Those projects included:

  • Installing a new quarter-mile track and multi-purpose sports fields
  • Painting inspirational murals in hallways
  • Renovating the City Year team room
  • Landscaping and courtyard cleanup
  • Revitalizing the basketball court
  • Building and placing several picnic tables and benches

QuikTrip volunteers also worked on projects at McLain High School, focusing on baseball field renovations, greenhouse improvements, and other enhancements to create a more inspiring learning environment.

Up With Trees also joined the effort, planting 26 trees at Monroe and 18 trees at McLain.

At Sequoyah Elementary, volunteers brightened up the hallways with new displays on the bulletin boards, revamped the landscaping around the school, and added seating in front of the school.

Thank you to all the volunteers for making our schools shine!
