Adela Ibarra is the 2025-2026 Monroe Demonstration Academy Support Professional of the Year!

Adela started working at Monroe in 2023 and currently serves as the attendance clerk. We asked her a few questions to learn more about her and her time in Tulsa Public Schools.

What led you to a career in education?

Honestly, I started working here just because I would have weekends off to be with my family, as well as holidays and summer break, without knowing that I would find another family here, surrounded by incredible students, parents, and coworkers. 

What is your favorite thing about your work?

My favorite part of working at Monroe is seeing the students' faces every morning, listening to their stories, their complaints, and sometimes their problems and concerns. In short, I love knowing that I am someone they can trust. I also appreciate the trust that parents place in me and the good relationship I have with them.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of work?

I am from Mexico, I have five kids, who are very funny. I love spending time with them during meals and on the way to school. I like reading. I love doing puzzles and coloring mandalas, watching movies with my children, and watching series with my husband.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I think my strength is patience, and thanks to that, I can handle a family of seven and a school full of teenagers.
