Monroe Demonstration Academy celebrated the grand opening of their food pantry at their monthly Family Dinner Night.
Monroe partnered with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma to bring an on-site pantry program to the school. All Monroe students and families are able to schedule a time to "shop" the pantry.
The pantry will be restocked once a month with non-perishable food items and hygiene products. It will be open every day school is in session and select weekdays over the summer.
"We get to serve our students and families every day through the partnership we have with them, and to be able to provide the really big necessity of food to the families that need it is really really special to us," said Principal Rob Kaiser.
