Getting to School

Monroe Demonstration Academy has two buildings:

• East Building – located near N. Lewis Ave.
• West Building – located near N. Victor Ave.

Doors to both buildings open at 8:55 a.m. Please do not drop off students earlier, as supervision is not available until that time.

• School starts at 9:15 a.m. Students are considered tardy if they are not in class by this time.
• Dismissal is at 4:20 p.m.

Why Attendance Matters:
Arriving on time and staying for the full school day ensures students don’t miss valuable instructional time. Frequent tardies or absences can disrupt learning, impact academic growth, and interfere with social development.

We understand that sometimes appointments are unavoidable. We kindly ask that families try to schedule doctor or personal appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. If your child must miss school for a medical reason, please provide a doctor’s note so the absence can be excused.

We provide bus transportation for:

• Non-transfer elementary students living 1.5 miles or more from their school; and
• Non-transfer middle school or high school students living 2 miles or more from their school.

Buses may arrive up to 15 minutes after the scheduled stop time. Students should remain at the stop up to 15 minutes after the scheduled stop time. If students wait longer than 15 minutes, call 918-833-8100.

Morning Arrival

All students should enter through the West Building main entrance.

Early Pick-Up

• 6th & 7th Grade Students: Pick up at the West Building front entrance
• 8th Grade Students: Pick up at the East Building front entrance

Please note:
Only individuals listed as an approved contact in the student’s records may pick up a student, and they must present a valid photo ID.

Being on time matters! A scholar is marked tardy if:

• They are not in class by 9:15 a.m.
• They arrive late to any class during the school day

Tardiness disrupts the learning environment for everyone. If your child arrives late, they must check in at the main office before going to class.

Tardy Consequences

• Tardies are tracked daily in PowerSchool
• Excessive tardiness can qualify students for in-school detention.
